You are invited to Equitas Annual Gala Cocktail on the 54th floor of the TD Centre in the stunning Lambert Room to Celebrate the recipients of the 2014 Annual Equitas Award for Human Rights Education. Created in 2010, the Award recognizes individuals or organizations working in Canada or internationally, who have made a tangible and exceptional contribution to the advancement of equality, social justice, peace and respect for human dignity through education programs. This year, two recipients have been selected: The Society for Children and Youth of British Columbia and the Youth Leadership Development Foundation in Yemen.
The guest of honour will be Barbara Hall, Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission and former Mayor of Toronto. The event will be emceed by Bill Schiller, former Foreign Correspondent for the Toronto Star.
Equitas – International Centre for Human Rights Education for over 40 years, Montreal-based Equitas has been at the forefront of human rights education in Canada and around the world. Their programs reinforce the values of acceptance, respect, inclusion, collaboration and peaceful conflict-resolution. Every day, millions of people face discrimination, violence and denial of their basic human dignity. Proceeds from this event will be used to further develop Equitas programming in Canada and overseas and to support their ongoing work. Tickets are $100 (personal) and $175 (corporate).
