This innovative and unique course invites scholar-practitioners and child protection professionals to an experiential journey in Child Protection Systems Strengthening. It will address the concepts, principles, tools, and self-reflection found in in the International Institute for Child Rights and Development (IICRD) evidence-based approach to Child Protection Systems Strengthening. Their approach to protecting children in community focuses on the application of five key principles: lead with children, start from strengths of community and culture, build partnerships, work from the inside-out and use the power of ideas.

Through the application of these five principles, IICRD’s approach to child protecting systems focus on these five strategic areas:

1.Legislation, policy, enforcement and monitoring mechanisms
2.Inter-sectoral child protection referral and response services
3.Social change, including attitudinal change
4.Understanding and cooperation between formal and non-formal care and protection systems
5.Child and youth participation

IICRD is offering this course on March 15th & 16th, 2014 at Royal Roads University, BC, Canada. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required, before Friday, February 28th, 2014. Please include your name and email with registration. Payment and registration at cpid.iicrd.org
